I believe who hits third will be a key factor in deciding who hits first. The Mariners are going to want as much balance as possible in their lineup. Nori Aoki hits from the left side and Ketel Marte is a switch-hitter. If Robinson Cano takes his usual spot as the number three hitter, look for Aoki to get the nod as the leadoff man. If Nelson Cruz hits third, the M’s could opt to use the switch hitting Marte as the leadoff man and slide Aoki into the number two spot.
