Mariners Minor League Report: Who’s Hot & Who’s Not

Everett AquaSox – 17-13, 1st Place in Northwest League Northern Division
Hot – Drew Jackson – SS
The Mariners’ 5th round selection in the 2015 draft has gotten off to a fast start in Everett. Drew Jackson is hitting .286 with 2 doubles, 2 RBI’s and 9 stolen bases in July for the AquaSox. The Stanford alum is considered a glove man, and he has lived up to his billing this season. Jackson’s speed is a difference maker, and he has a great opportunity to sprint through the M’s system.
Hot – Joe Pistorese – LHP
Drafted in the 17th round of the 2015 draft out of Washington State University, Joe Pistorese has dominated the Northwest League this season. The southpaw is 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA across 4 relief appearances in July. Pistorese has fanned 10 and walked 1 though 10 innings of work. He has tallied 3 wins already with Everett this season, and he could get a look in the starting rotation if he continues to deal.

Not – Conner Hale – 3B
Conner Hale was one of the final 2015 draftees to sign with Seattle, and he has struggled to acclimatize in Everett. Hale is hitting just .163 with 1 double, 2 RBI’s and 1 stolen base in July. He shined in the prestigious Cape Cod League last summer, and I still have high hopes for the young third baseman. Hopefully Hale can turn things around in the near future.
Hot – Ryan Uhl – 1B
Ryan Uhl is a monster of a man, and he starting to show his immense potential in Everett. Uhl is hitting .277 with 5 doubles, 1 home run and 14 RBI’s in July. The 23-year-old has nursed an incredible 8 free passes in 57 plate appearances this month. Uhl had a very productive college career, and he represents one of the most intriguing prospects on the AquaSox.
