The 22-year-old right-hander started the season in the Sun Devils’ starting rotation, but was moved to the bullpen late in the season. Gillies posted a record of 3-6 with a 3.83 ERA across 49.1 innings pitched. Gillies struck out a career high 58 hitters in 2015, and walked 21. Opponents combined to hit .239 off the Hollister, CA product this spring.
Darin Gillies does not possess an elite arm, but has great size at 6’4/202. If Gillies ever reaches the Major Leagues, it will likely be as a middle reliever.
