LoMo Scorches a Big Fly

Logan Morrison has been snakebitten at the plate so far this season. He has been consistently hitting the ball hard, but has little to show for it. Tonight, all the frustration produced a laser beam home run to right-center field. Morrison looked relieved as he circled bases, perhaps feeling all the hard work is finally beginning to pay off. LoMo also made an incredible leaping tag at first base to end the 3rd inning after an errant throw from Robinson Cano. All told, Morrison finished tonight’s game going 1 for 3.

As mentioned earlier, it has not been an easy start to the season for the M’s first baseman. LoMo is currently hitting just .185 with 1 home run and 1 RBI across 54 at bats. At some point, with Jesus Montero tearing it up in Tacoma, Morrison will have to fight for his job with the Mariners. However, tonight’s showing should help fend off the wolves for at least another night.

I am extremely proud to say that I picked LoMo as my pick to click prior to the start of tonight’s game. I said that Morrison would hit a Phil Hughes fastball into the seats in right field, and thanks to LoMo, I look like a genius. However, the fact that I am pointing this out suggests I am rarely ever right when picking a player who will “click”, and therefore I am hardly a genius.
