Jackson Generals – AA – 4-7

Hot – SP Stephen Landazuri (0-0, 1.98 ERA, 13.2 IP), SP Misael Siverio (0-0, 0.87 ERA, 10.1 IP), RP James Gillheeney (2-0, 1.04 ERA 8.2 IP), LF Dario Pizzano (.370, 1 HR, 4 RBI’s).

The Jackson Generals have a pair of stud starters in their rotation right now. MLB.com ranks Stephen Landazuri as the M’s 22nd best prospect, and he was given an opportunity to pitch a few innings for the M’s this spring. However, not many people could have anticipated such a dominant performance from the 23-year-old right-hander with the Generals this season. Misael Siverio is a 25-year-old southpaw from Cuba, and he has been a revelation in Jackson. He may follow the path of his countryman Roenis Elias if Siverio continues to pitch well in Jackson.

Not – 3B D.J. Peterson (.156, 0 HR, 3 RBI, 2 SB), SS Jack Reinheimer (.182, 0 HR, 2 RBI, 3 SB), RF Gabby Guerrero (.209, 1 HR, 4 RBI, 0 SB), SP Scott DeCecco (0-2, 13.03 ERA, 9.2 IP)

This is a very disappointing group of struggling players. MLB.com ranks D.J. Peterson as the M’s 2nd best prospect, and he represented the Mariners at the 2013 MLB Futures Game. Peterson is one of the top offensive players in the Mariners’ system, and I expect him to turn things around quickly with the Generals. Gabby Guerrero is Vladdy’s nephew, and he bares a striking resemblance to his uncle on the diamond. Gabby is known as a streaky player at the plate due to his free swinging nature. The M’s have high hopes for both of these players, and I believe it is only a matter of time before they become unstoppable in Jackson.
