Joe Beimel

Beimel is a no-brainer and a must-have this Hot Stove season. After missing all of 2012 and 2013 due to injuries, Beimel was a solid addition to the best bullpen in baseball in 2014.

In 56 games, Beimel had a 3-1 record with a 2.20 ERA (but spent a majority of the season under 2.00). For those of you who think he was used primarily against lefties, he actually faced more righties (99 plate appearances) than lefties (85 PA).

He was, however, more effective against lefties, holding them to a .188 BAA while righties hit almost 100 points higher (.282).

Beimel had more success on the road than he did in the pitchers-friendly Safeco (.202 BAA Away / .282 BAA Home) but that shouldn’t stop the Mariners from bringing him back into the fray in 2015.

Beimel made $850,000 in 2014 and should be able to be locked up on a one or two year deal for a slight raise. If the Mariners can get him for around $1M, they should do it.

Black Friday Price: 2 yrs/$2.2M
