Mariners Bats Wake Up, Remember That the Playoffs are Within Reach

The Seattle Mariners offense decided to wake up when I decided to go to bed.
After another lackluster start to a game, the Mariners offense exploded for 13 runs in the final 5 innings of the contest, running away from the LA Angels to the tune of a 13-2 victory.
Each of the 9 position players to start the game managed at least one hit. Mike Zunino and Chris Taylor had two apiece at the bottom of the order, accounting for 5 RBI between the two of them.
The game started auspiciously with Roenis Elias giving up two runs in the first inning. He settled after that but went only 3.0 innings before being pulled with an apparent elbow stiffness.
But after that the Mariners creeped back into the picture. In the 4th inning the Mariners put 4 runs on the board to take the lead, then ran away for good in the 6th with 6 more runs.
This game amounted to the M’s 81st win on the season, guaranteeing their first non-losing campaign since 2009. With a win tonight they would have that winning season.
