3- Josh Willingham or Dayan Viciedo

The name Dayan Viciedo has been whispered around Seattle since Spring Training. The San Francisco Giants are the only other team I am hearing is interested in acquiring the White Sox outfielder.

If that’s the case, both teams can afford to wait until closer to the deadline to pull the strings on a deal and see if they can acquire someone better first. Here’s a potential trade involving Viciedo.

San Francisco gets: Brandon Maurer and player to be named

Seattle gets: Dayan Viciedo

It seems to be a relatively cheap cost to get a player with power potential. That being said, it depends on who the PTBNL ends up being.

As for the Willingham rumors, it’s hard to justify trading for another Corey Hart, but that’s essentially what the Mariners would get with Willingham.

Don’t get me wrong, I realize the offensive potential of Willingham. But he is recovering from a fractured wrist and hasn’t quite hit the same. That being said, he would still be an upgrade of Ackley, at least offensively.

Minnesota gets: RHP Carson Smith and Kivlehan

Seattle gets: Josh Willingham

I’m not sure I like this deal, no matter who is involved. But if he can provide even a 1.5-2 WAR for the rest of the season, it may be worth it.
