SP Jeff Samardzija, Chicago Cubs

Jeff Samardzija has been the talk of the trade market for pretty much the last 7 months. SodoMojo’s staff has not been shy about saying we love Jeff in the northwest.

Obviously Samardzija is not the sexiest option in the trade market but he brings experience and dependability. It would take a lot less as far as trade bait by the Mariners to bring in Samardzija because I am 90% sure that he will not be with the Cubbies after his contract is up anyway.

Look at the possibility of some youth being sent to the Cubs in return for the 29 year old righty. I would not miss SP Danny Hultzen and 2nd Baseman Nick Franklin if that is all this deal took.

I for one would rather see this trade happen than one for Price/Zobrist. Better short term and long term for the Mariners. I guarantee a little taste of success would get Samardzija locked up in Seattle for 4 years.
