The wife of Seattle Mariners first baseman Justin Smoak, Kristin, took to Twitter Sunday with a disturbing exchange she had with a representative from Verizon Wireless.
As the series of Tweets from Mrs. Smoak shows, she was trying to find out information as to why their data usage was so high for the month. The response she got from the wireless company’s rep was shocking to say the least.
Called @Verizon ab our crazy data usage this month, lady said Justin uses a lot and I should b happy he is on the phone and not misbehaving

First of all, it is absolutely none of their damn business what the reason is as to why the data usage is high, let alone whether or not Justin is having an affair.
Considering that just over a month ago, the couple announced via Twitter that they were expecting their first child, I would surmise that things seem pretty content in the Smoak household.
In honor of Opening Day, Justin and I are thrilled to announce we are adding a member to Team Smoak! pic.twitter.com/6F2pSUXUPu

I have never met Justin or Kristin in person, but from what I know of Justin, he seems like a pretty straight up good guy. The kind of guy that I would be surprised to hear if there were some inappropriate extra-marital activities. That being said, I know “good guys” do cheat on their wives. I’m just saying I sincerely doubt Justin would.
But the heart of the matter here is the inappropriate comment by the Verizon employee that led to Kristin’s series of Tweets. That employee more than stepped over their boundaries in even suggesting that it was even possible.
It makes me glad I am not a Verizon Wireless customer, nor will I be. That kind of comment has no place in customer service, or in any kind of conversation, especially when the parties involved don’t even know each other.
Our sympathies to the Smoak family for having to put up with such insensitive comments. We wish you all the best as you are anticipating the arrival of your baby Smoakie.
