This is highly improbable, but if the M’s are in the trade market, the Cardinals represent an excellent prospective trade partner because they have an abundance of pitching wealth.

Jaime Garcia comes to mind because, while being one of the best pitchers in baseball at time over the last few seasons (career 3.45 ERA), he seems like the odd man out in a rotation studded with other workhorses and future stars.

Unfortunately a guy like Garcia wouldn’t come cheap, but if they could somehow finagle a trade that doesn’t cost them too much, most M’s fans probably wouldn’t mind a guy like Garcia running out every five days after Felix Hernandez and Hisashi Iwakuma.
