Mariners Trading For Matt Kemp?

You read that right folks. According to several reports that began with a tweet from Jon Morosi, the Mariners are interested in a trade that would bring Matt Kemp here from the Dodgers.

No word on what pieces would be involved in the deal, but it may include Nick Franklin. Think about it. Mark Ellis is a free agent. The only other 2B they had on their roster last year was Skip Schumaker and they had him in the outfield most of the year.

According to Charlie’s interview with Larry Stone of the Seattle Times, Franklin could be used as trade bait if the M’s want Dustin Ackley back at second.

Not sure what else the Dodgers would want. I would guess Kemp for Franklin, Brandon Maurer and another prospect would get it done. Kemp is signed through 2019 ($21M/yr.) so there is stability there.
