One of the M’s few bright spots the last two seasons, and one of Jack Z’s best free agent singings while with Seattle, starting pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma could be an extremely attractive piece of trade bait.

The Japanese righty was one of the best pitchers in all of baseball last season and, unfortunately for M’s fans, is only under contract for one more season — though the M’s do have an option on him for 2015.

If Iwakuma can replicate his 2013 campaign in the coming season, he might become one the most intriguing free agents on the market if he chooses to exercise his $1 million option buyout in 2015.

As much as M’s fans might want to keep him around, it would not be surprising if Jack Z entertains the possibility of maximizing Iwakuma’s trade value.
