Nate Karns looks to impress as he fights for the final spot in the Mariners’ rotation.

The Seattle Mariners (10-11-2) will face off against the Oakland A’s (9-9) tonight in Peoria. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 pm PT at Peoria Stadium. The M’s will send out Nate Karns (1-1, 3.29) to face Jesse Hahn (0-0, 6.00) of the Athletics.

Karns has been good this spring. He has made 4 starts and pitched 13.2 innings, allowing 5 runs on 13 hits. Karns is competing for the 5th spot in the rotation with James Paxton, and only has a few more starts left to make his mark.

Jesse Hahn hasn’t wowed this spring. In his 3 starts, he has given up 6 runs on 8 hits over 9 innings of work. Hahn is looking for a steady role in the A’s rotation after making 16 starts and going 6-6 last year with Oakland.

Here are tonight’s lineups as announced by M’s skipper Scott Servais and A’s manager Bob Melvin:

This is a lineup filled with regulars, maybe other than Luis Sardinas and Steve Clevenger who will play a backup roles, but will still see plenty of time in the lineup nonetheless. Sardinas is hitting .372, collecting 16 hits in 43 at-bats while driving in 10. Kyle Seager has been putting together a very strong spring hitting .314, going 11-35 with 2 homeruns and 9 RBI.

Adam Lind homered on Monday and has also been having a good spring, hitting .333. He is 7-21 with 2 homeruns and 4 RBI. Seth Smith has had a monstrous spring, hitting a whopping .542, going 13-24 with a double, a triple, and 2 RBI.

Leonys Martin is rounding out the order tonight, and is only hitting .200. But he has still managed to swipe 6 bags and drive in 6 runs. I think his speed will play a big role this year in Seattle. If he can regularly get on base, he can cause some havoc, and hopefully set up some RBI opportunities for the top of the lineup.

Tonight’s game will be televised on both Root Sports and MLB Network. The game can also be streamed live with MLB.tv through connected devices. And of course, it can be heard on 710 ESPN for listeners in the Pacific Northwest.
