Montero, Snow Shine in Rainiers Team Awards

With the M’s currently on the field in Chicago looking to take three of four from the White Sox, we catch wind that the Tacoma Rainiers (AAA) have announced their team awards for 2015…

In 93 games for the Rainiers, Montero clearly led the way offensively. He was named to the all-star team for his efforts. He hit .346 with a .388 on-base percentage. He had 16 home runs and 75 RBIs in those 93 games and even looked good early on his promotion to the big club. He’s cooled mightily but that doesn’t that have any affect on his ability to win this award.

Snow was also named to the all-star team for his work on the mound. The 26-year-old is 10-8 on the year with a 4.41 ERA. Don’t read too much into the high ERA, as the PCL is a hitter’s league. He’s tossed 116 innings this season, fanning 92.

Ironically enough, one day after John Hicks makes his major league debut at third base of all places, we learn that Hicks gets the Gold Glove award at catcher. Hicks is starting at catcher today for the Mariners and we got an ironic pregame note on Hicks’ debut last night…

And then the Community Award goes to Snow and Logan Bawcom. Bawcom was acquired in 2012 from the Dodgers in the Brandon League deal.

Anyways, back to the Mariners, who lead the White Sox, 4-3. And then you can watch this Little League World Series finale…what a game that is!
