Seattle Mariners FanFest is one of the best times of the year for dedicated Mariners fans who live in the greater Seattle area. From January 24-25, Mariners players, former players, coaches and staff will populate Safeco Field, with chances for pictures, autographs, and a zipline to home plate from center field.

FanFest opens on both Saturday the 24th and Sunday the 25th from 11 am to 4 pm. Tickets for FanFest go on sale tomorrow, Thursday January 8th, at 10 am on mariners.com and at all the Mariners team stores.

Cruz and recently acquired left-hand pitcher J.A. Happ will make their appearances at FanFest this January.

Along with the two newbies, a number of older faces are expected to make appearances as well. 23-year old catcher Mike Zunino is expected to be there, along with center fielder Austin Jackson, stud starting pitchers James Paxton and Taijuan Walker, with relievers Tom Wilhelmsen and Charlie Furbush.

It’s not only the Major Leaguers expected to attend the fan-oriented event. Top prospects in outfielder Alex Jackson, infielder D.J. Peterson, infielder Patrick Kivlehan, and catcher John Hicks are all expected to be in attendance.

Then, GM trader Jack Zduriencik and manager Lloyd McClendon will be in attendance both days. Mariners Hall of Fame catcher Dan Wilson will be there both days, and Mariners Hall of Famer Jay Buhner is scheduled for an appearance on Sunday.

Events also include tours of the Mariners clubhouse, a running of the bases, and pitching in the bullpen, and games for the kids in the Kids Fun Zone.

For someone who hasn’t been able to go to FanFest in recent seasons– since I am off at college– I miss the beginning excitement of a coming season. This year, FanFest should kick-off those postseason vibes we’ve been feeling throughout the offseason. It’s a fans first real exposure to the team after a long offseason, in anxious preparation for a 2015 season that could end in a World Championship.
