Mariners Free Fall Continues, Felix Hernandez Falls Victim

facebooktwitterreddit

Not only can the Seattle Mariners not score runs and not keep teams from scoring runs, their ace Felix Hernandez may have just pitched himself out of the Cy Young award.

Pitching in a season-low 4.2 IP, Felix, in another must-win game, allowed a season-high 8 ER as the Toronto Blue Jays lit up the Mariners again, 10-2.

Felix Hernandez entered the game with an AL-best 2.07 ERA for the season. After Tuesday, Felix saw his ERA rise to 2.34, behind Chicago’s Chris Sale (2.20).

The Mariners have now lost four straight and for the first time over a long stretch this season, it’s primarily on the pitching. Over the past four games, none of the Seattle starters made it through the 5th inning and have a collective ERA of 16.56.

The M’s have been outscored 42-10 over the past four games. They are now three games back of Kansas City for the 2nd AL Wild-Card spot with only five games to go.

The fat lady hasn’t sung yet, but she is in the building and is warming up. #HuntForTealOctober
