Seattle Mariners Gameday Preview Versus the Astros
Welp, last night’s game was a doozie. Logan Morrison tied the game off of Collin McHugh in the 7th, but that solo homer was one of only two hits for the Mariners. Yoervis Medina ended up with the loss, giving up a run in the top of the 9th of a 1-1 ball game.
Tonight, though, the Mariners offense has a chance to rough up a rookie making his first Major League start on the season.

MATCHUPS:
Pitching:
Seattle Mariners RHP Hisashi Iwakuma (14-6, 2.97 ERA) v. Houston Astros RHP Nick Tropeano (starting debut)
Edge? Iwakuma.
Iwakuma has maintained a high level of competitive excellence this season since joining the team after a month of rehabbing an injured finger on his throwing hand. He is the #2 behind King Felix Hernandez, and continues to pitch like the Cy Young finalist of last season. Tropeano is making his starting debut for the Astros tonight, giving the Mariners offense an opportunity to either make him look like an All-Star or like just another rookie getting a garbage time start.
Lineups:
Mariners:
Logan Morrison 3
Of Note: the Mariners had two hits last night: one an infield single by Jackson, the other a solo home run by LoMO. But that was it. Yes, Collin McHugh has had an awakening of a season, but this team needs to do more in the midst of a playoff hunt.
Astros:
Chris Carter DH
Of Note: the Astros had 2 runs on 8 hits, going 2-for-1o with RISP but still pushing across just enough runs to beat the pitching prudent Mariners.
