Mariners Bats Quiet Again, Nats Win
Last night the Mariners lost 3-1 to the Washington Nationals and lost ground in the Wild Card picture. Kansas City and the Detroit Tigers are now tied atop the AL Central, and at the same time hold the 2nd Wild-Card spot.
The Mariners have fallen 1.5 games back for the 2nd Wild-Card spot.
Dustin Ackley smacked a solo homer in the 8th inning, but that was the extent of the Mariners’ offensive production last night at Safeco.
Roenis Elias pitched 6 innings of 2 run ball, which normally would be a solid pitching performance. However, when the M’s bats go dormant it’s near impossible for the starting pitcher to notch a W.

The M’s finish out the series against the Nats today, hoping to get a game back and not fall any further back in the Wild-Card race. This is certainly not the time of the year to falter.
A two-run home run by Jayson Werth was the only offensive blemish for Elias.
