Mariners Smack Around the Tigers, Regain the Wild-Card

The Mariners now have a half-game lead over the Detroit Tigers for the 2nd Wild-Card spot in the American League. Chris Young pitched 6 scoreless inning, winning his 4th straight decision while lowering his ERA to 3.07 on the season.

The Mariners plated 8 runs, in all varieties: groundouts, wild pitches, fielding errors, and just great hitting.

Chris Denorfia woke up offensively, going 3-5 with a triple and an RBI. If he can get hot and stay productive in right field, his potential platoon with a healthy Michael Saunders could be valuable during the stretch.

Kyle Seager cranked out 3 RBI, and Robinson Cano went 2-for-3 on a day where the whole team produced.

Now the Mariners head off to Philadelphia to face the Phillies before playing the Nationals.

11 games over .500 and in the thick of the playoff race, these next few weeks are going to be fun and interesting for your Seattle Mariners.
