Trade Rumors: Mariners Offer For Rockies CF Drew Stubbs

facebooktwitterreddit

Reports have broken this morning that the Seattle Mariners have attempted a trade for the Colorado Rockies CF Drew Stubbs.

It is no secret to anyone that the Mariners are in need of some offense. They have been actively shopping over the last month for a legitimate right handed bat to add to a sub-par offense which again had another poor showing last night against the Baltimore Orioles.

Stubbs is now added to the wish list of right handed bats the Mariners have been looking to acquire.

This list includes Marlon Byrd, Dayan ViciedoStarling Marte, and Billy Butler just to name a few.

According to the rumor mill, the Rockies are wanting young pitching in return for the 29 year old Stubbs, something that the Mariners front office has been very reluctant in giving up.

There are also conflicting reports that the Rockies aren’t even looking to move Stubbs.

Stubbs is having a pretty solid year for the Rockies. He has improved in every statistical category in his first year with the Rockies.

He is boasting a triple slash of .297/.335/.498 backed by 71 hits, 10 home runs, and 27 RBI. He has also accounted for 11 stolen bases.

Keep in mind he is playing at Coors Field.

It is not clear who or what would be included in this deal. Regardless of the year that Stubbs is having, our ‘big three’ (Peterson, Paxton, Walker) should not be included.

Possible ‘lower tier’ options for a deal for Stubbs could be Erasmo Ramirez, Tyler Pike, or Danny Hultzen.

How would you feel in giving up one or two of our ‘big three’ if Tulowitzki or Cuddyer were included?

The M’s have the assets to pull of a blockbuster, stay tuned with SodoMojo’s trade deadline coverage and find out if Big Z will pull the trigger….. or not.
