SP David Price, Tampa Bay Rays

The Mariners know first hand how good this guy has been for the struggling Rays. M’s fans should be very familiar with the David Price rumors considering we (SodoMojo) were not the only ones who thought that a trade between the Rays and Mariners was likely.

If the Mariners were to pull the trigger on this trade we already know that our prized procession Taijuan Walker would have to go. Jack Zduriencik was clear this offseason that he had no intention of trading our number 1 prospect.

What would it take for Big Z to do say yes to the trade? How about Ben Zobrist being tossed in.

The Mariners have not been the type of team to pull off a blockbuster trade like this but I think that giving up Walker, Franklin, and a couple of pitching prospects like Victor Sanchez and/or Tyler Pike would make this deal worth it.

Zobrist adds instant offense to a team that is ranked near the bottom in almost every category, and he also gives us more flexibility defensively with the ability to play short stop and right field.

The hard part about this is we would be selling the farm to complete a trade like this for guys who both could potentially be gone after the 2015 season (Zobrist has team ’15 team option/Price is UFA after ’15).
