Seattle Mariners Gameday Preview At Tampa Bay

facebooktwitterreddit

Initial Thoughts:

The Mariners had their 5-game win streak snapped while the Rays snapped a 10-game slide. Look for the Mariners to bounce back and build some momentum today before handing the ball over to Felix on Sunday.

Game Details:

Seattle Mariners: 31-29.

Tampa Bay Rays: 24-38.

Game time: 1:10 pm Pacific time. St. Petersburg, Florida. Tropicana Field.

MATCHUPS:

Pitching:

Seattle Mariners LHP Roenis Elias (4-4, 3.53 ERA) v. Tampa Bay Rays LHP Alex Cobb (1-3, 3.19 ERA)

Edge: Push. It depends on what Elias we see out there. Cobb isn’t a bad pitcher despite his record. He hasn’t been given any run support. Could be a low scoring affair.

Projected Lineups:

Mariners:

Endy Chavez 7

James Jones 8

Robinson Cano 4

Kyle Seager 5

Mike Zunino 2

Dustin Ackley DH

Cole Gillespie 9

Brad Miller 6

Willie Bloomquist 3

Of Note: Michael Saunders is day to day with a shoulder issue after exiting Friday’s game. Justin Smoak gets another day off – seems to happening a bit more lately. Ackley gets the start at DH today.

Rays:

Desmond Jennings 8

Sean Rodriguez 7

Evan Longoria 5

Ben Zobrist DH

James Loney 3

Yunel Escobar 6

Logan Forsythe 4

Ali Solis 2

Kevin Kiermaier 9

Of Note: The Rays snapped a 10-game slide with the win against the M’s yesterday. Look for this hungry lineup to want more.

Final Thoughts:

We’ve talked about it before, this team has trouble with bad teams. The Tampa Bay Rays have a worse record than the Houston Astros and we can’t beat them? While I think this will be a low scoring game, I believe the M’s can pick up this one and look forward to having Felix on the hill tomorrow to start building some momentum again.

Score Prediction:

Mariners 3, Rays 2.
