James Paxton Shut Down With Inflammation

Seattle Mariners fans hoping to see James Paxton replace Brandon Maurer after Maurer’s start this Thursday just got some crushing news.

According to MLB.com’s Greg Johns, Paxton has been shut down with inflammation in his throwing shoulder. Johns says that the club hopes it will only be 5-7 days but it’s unclear at this point how much time will be added to his rehab stint because of this.

Needless to say, Twitter has been all a-twitter with the news. So, for our Twitter Tuesday, let’s take a look at some of the things you are all saying.

Very true. With all of the pitchers going down with elbow issues, needing Tommy John surgery, the Mariners are dealing with several pitchers that have been having shoulder problems.

Paxton and Taijuan Walker would be enough, but Stephen Pryor has also gone on the minor league DL with shoulder impingement, same thing that shut Walker down this last time.

Not that we now want to deal with elbow issues, it’s just an interesting set of circumstances. Someone knock on some wood….quickly! I do not want to start seeing guys have elbow problems now.

Us too. Though, more because this means we will probably have to endure at least two more starts by Brandon Maurer.

What’s with all the crying? He’s gonna be okay. The Mariners have made it this far without him, they will be okay.

Ummmm……I don’t think so. Last I checked, his whole arm isn’t the problem. But I can understand your frustrations.
