Nick Franklin Headed Back To Tacoma?

It appears the 2014 Nick Franklin experiment in Seattle has reached it’s end, for now. After being called up last week while the team was on the road in Arlington, Franklin appears to have failed to impress enough to find a permanent role on this club.

Franklin sent out the following tweet a few hours ago:

The Tacoma Rainiers are heading to Las Vegas to begin a road trip on Thursday. In seven games for the Mariners, Franklin batted .125 (just two hits) and spent time at 2nd, 3rd, SS and in the outfield.

Franklin was brought up in hopes of giving the lineup a spark. He failed to do so. In fact, some have questioned whether he will ever be that guy to provide a spark to any club.

With all of the activity between Tacoma and Seattle lately, Franklin will have plenty of opportunity to provide a spark with the Rainiers.

No word on who will be called up, but with an empty spot on the 40-man roster, I believe that Cole Gillespie will get the call and be the right-handed spark plug this lineup needs.

Stay tuned.
