Hope you enjoyed your cup of coffee kid. James Jones, who was called up earlier this week, was optioned back down to Triple-A Tacoma to allow Brandon Maurer to make the start with the big club today in Miami.

Jones, made his Major League debut in Miami on Friday. He replaced Stefen Romero in right in the 7th inning and came to bat in the 8th. With Mike Zunino on 2nd and two out, Jones hit a high chopper to second that he was able to beat out for his first big league hit.

And as you can see from the clip below, he can flat out FLY!

I would like to see Jones make the club and stick. That kind of speed can be lethal. With Abraham Almonte at the top, Jones batting behind him to set up Robinson Cano, Corey Hart and Justin Smoak could be a tremendous boost to the offense.

But for now, he heads back to Tacoma so we could have Maurer make the start. He was the 7th different pitcher to start for the Mariners in the first 18 games this year. And we still haven’t seen Taijuan Walker or Hisashi Iwakuma.
