Continuing a flurry of moves on Wednesday, the Seattle Mariners called up outfielder James Jones from Triple-A Tacoma and placed RHP Blake Beavan on the 15-day disabled list.
Beavan, who started for the Mariners Tuesday after being called up to fill in for the injured James Paxton, allowed two runs in four innings. He came out after the 4th with a tight shoulder.
Jones, will more than likely share time with Michael Saunders and recently called up Nick Franklin in right, though he may see time in center.
It was a busy day for the Mariners organization, calling up both Jones and Franklin while placing both Beavan and Logan Morrison on the DL.
Jones was batting .310 through the first 11 games in Tacoma with seven runs scored. He will be making his major league debut when he takes the field for the Mariners.
Manager Lloyd McClendon has to be searching for answers at this point to an offense capable of plating five or more runs one night and getting shut out the next.
No word on who will replace Beavan in the rotation when his turn comes back up again on Sunday.
