Seattle Mariners Seeking Trade For Alex Rodriguez

In a move that is more than likely going to upset more fans than it will create, the Seattle Mariners will seek to trade with the New York Yankees to bring Alex Rodriguez back to Seattle for the 2015 season.

The disgraced third baseman is serving a season-long suspension for his role in the Biogenesis scandal and has all but run himself out of New York. But Seattle, desperate to put butts in seats and protection in the lineup behind Robinson Cano, are talking about possible trade scenarios for A-Rod.

According to a Mariners front office intern speaking under the conditions of anonymity, the Mariners are talking with the Yankees about a trade that would send Alex to Seattle for Danny Farquhar. Sweetening the deal, the Yankees have agreed to pay 3/4 of the remaining salary on A-Rod’s ridiculous contract.

“We would love to have Alex back with us to end his career,” the Mariners general manager said in a statement. “I feel like he was an important piece to the puzzle in 1995 and a big part of the turnaround this organization experienced back then. But I cannot comment at this time as to whether or not we are discussing a trade.”

When asked to comment on the trade rumor, Alex released a statement through his agent.

I would love to go back to Seattle to finish my career. They throw money at me from the stands every time I visit. I live off that kind of energy and adoration. With Derek (Jeter) retiring after this season and me missing that, it would be nice to play with Robbie (Cano) again.

What do you think Mariners fans? Do you want to see A-Rod come back to Seattle and put on the Teal one more time? Or have you seen right through this ruse for the complete work of fiction that it is?

No one wants A-Rod back in Seattle. Not the fans, not the front office, not A-Rod.

Just having a little fun with ya on this, the first day of April. Happy day after Opening Day everyone.

Nice work, Dan. Way to get the day started out right! The scary part is, Jack Z might actually think about it…

Danny,…….your a bad boy; go to your room, and wait for your father to come home.

Maybe if they throw in Tanaka.

More likely they would want to add Ichiro to the deal.

the funny thing is, A-Rod would be the right handed power bat the M’s would need to bat cleanup for the short term while hopefully someone develops into that role, were it not for the bad blood locally (which I’ve thought went on bizarrely long even before his universal PED shaming last year) and his declining health. If the Yanks are able to move A-Rod next year, they’ll probably have to cover more than 75% of his salary, although he could provide a big publicity boost for a team with sagging attendance off the MLB radar, the Marlins being the most obvious choice.

The irony. If the M’s only had to pay A-Rod 9 million a year? Dare I say it: I would make that trade.

He’s signed for 3 more years, 2017, even after this 1 year suspension… a 1 year contract for $9m for some team to make a playoff run I could see it, but the 3 year commitment.. Dunno. But looking at his contract, the last 3 years are $21m, $20m, $20m, so the $28m he made last year drops, so 75% probably would work. I could see 3/$15 for the Yankees to move him, the Marlins only problem not having a DH option.

    No, no, no and NO!

I think we should re-sign Milton Bradley as well. He’s a free agent, right? Or is he providing a ‘veteran presence’ in some team’s clubhouse? :)

Arod is F*cking sick. He’s probably the best MLB shortstop ever and he can still do a lot things. Plus he was like a role model for Cano in NY so it would be good to see them both playing for the Mariners and I’m sure they would provide the offense we. Also it would be a big f*ck you to the Yankme’s if we just bought half their infield, especially if we could work a deal for Ichiro too. I hope, actually, I really hope this happens.
