Can you feel it? It’s getting intense. There are now only six days left until Opening Day for the Seattle Mariners. We have been counting down the most popular Mariners to wear uniforms 1-9. If you missed the first few you can check them out here:
The winner of the voting for #7 won by one vote. But your winner is Spike Owen.
Today, the most popular Mariners to wear #6 isn’t even up for debate. I will not put a poll up to gauge responses, it is an open and shut case. You should know who I’m talking about.
This guy wore the #6 for the Mariners for 12 seasons, was an all-star in 1996 and is currently the Mariners minor league catching coordinator. The number is retired now. Of course I am talking about:
Dan (The Man) Wilson
Dan Wilson was a defensive specialist, fantastic with handling the pitching staff and had some offense from time to time as well. Wilson was inducted to the Mariners Hall of Fame in 2012.
My Oh My, there is no reason why, ANYONE but Dan should be the most famous Mariner to wear the #6.
