Mariners Trim Camp Roster As Minor Camp Starts

The Seattle Mariners’ minor league spring training camp began on Wednesday. As such, the Mariners roster was trimmed 13 players from their club-record 68 players at the big league camp leaving 55 for the eventual 25 spots.

Three players on the 40-man roster were moved including LHP Danny Hultzen who was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma. Outfielder Julio Morban and LHP Anthony Fernandez were optioned to Double-A Jackson.

The other 10 were non-roster invitees, reassigned to the minor league camp. They are:

C- John Hicks (0-for-1, R)
C- Manuel Pina (0-for-1)
IF- Gabriel Noriega (2-for-5, R)
OF- Burt Reynolds (1-for-1, 2B, R, BB)
RHP- Jonathan Arias (1.1 IP, 0 ER, H, 2 BB, K)
RHP- Andrew Carraway (2 IP, H 0 ER)
RHP- Stephen Kohlscheen (2 IP, 3 H 2 ER, K)
RHP- Mark Rogers (IP, 0 ER, BB)
RHP- Chance Ruffin
LHP- James Gillheeney

The Mariners now have 37 members of the 40-man roster and 18 non-roster invitees remaining in the big league camp.
