The Seattle Mariners traded Carlos Peguero to the Kansas City Royals for cash or a player to be named later according to multiple sources on Wednesday.
Peguero has spent parts of the past three seasons with the big club. He sports a .195 average with nine homers and 27 RBI.
We can only wonder how much cash the Mariners would get for Peguero and if that money would be paid directly to Felix Hernandez‘s wife, who was the victim of identity theft at the hands of Peguero’s wife.
I know that’s not a possibility, but it’s fun to speculate. Of all the players the Mariners could DFA after signing Buck, why Peguero? Would we be crazy to believe that the fraud issue had nothing to do with it?
Anyways, the Royals DFA’d LHP Everett Teaford for assignment to make room for Peguero. Perhaps the Royals will just send him to Seattle instead.
