Raúl Ibañez To The Angels

Well Mariners fans, it is time for us to say so long, once again, to the journeyman Raúl Ibañez. His year back with the Seattle Mariners was an entertaining one. Raúl Ibañez tied Ted Williams last year for the most home runs (29) by a player at age 41.

Ibañez got off to a stellar start in the first half of the 2013 season, nearly earning himself an All-Star spot for the American League. The second half of the season was a different story for Raúl, who finished with a slash line of .242/.306/.487.

Ibañez signing with the Los Angeles Angels marks another step in his 18 year career.

He has now played for the Seattle Mariners, Kansas City Royals, Philadelphia Phillies, and the New York Yankees. Raúl’s deal covers 1 year for $2.75 million, but could total $5 million after incentives.

What a shame. Great clubhouse guy and a contributor on the field. Good luck Raul.

Would have liked to see one more magical season from Raul in an M’s uniform. Highly improbable, but would have liked to see it. Hope you have an amazing year and earn all of your incentives on a mediocre team.

I love Raul, but he just didn’t have a spot. Too many DH types already.
