Keith Olbermann Rips "Baseball Seattle"

After the speculation hit it’s peak on Tuesday about the possibilities of the Mariners landing Robinson Cano, Keith Olbermann went on the air and delivered a five-minute rant in which he laughed at the idea of Cano coming to Seattle and slamming the Mariners.

I can’t in good conscience completely disagree with what he said. Is this Cano to Seattle talk a giant misdirection by the New York Yankees?

Are they pulling the strings on this whole thing, to make Cano realize that unless he takes less money to stay a Yankee, the only place he will have to go is SEATTLE???

Regardless, I hope he’s wrong. Though I wouldn’t mind the Mariners trying to sign Russell Wilson and having him do the whole Bo Jackson/Deion Sanders thing.

See the video below, tell us what you think. Is he right? Is he being cruel? You decide.

I believe that Mariners GM Jack Zurendzick honestly believes in the plan he has in place to try to turn things around quicker than most think feasible. I think Robinson Cano is just the FIRST Domino that GM Jack Z. has in place, or at least in mind. Cano should be the first priority for the Mariners if they want to contend in the AL West this season. Sign Cano (I’m certain it will take all of 8 years & the much discussed $200 Million to get him), then turn & pull off the Trade for Dodgers OF Matt Kemp & the Talked about Trade for Rays LHP David Price. I believe the Mariners have the young pieces it will take to achieve both goals & acquire TWO All Star caliber Players via Trade & one via Free Agency! I think that Seattle could trade off 1B Justin Smoak & C/DH Jesus Montero in these Two Deals. Which one goes to Tampa & which goes to the Dodgers, I’m not sure. If Seattle is to trade Smoak, say to Tampa Bay to replace/Platoon with James Loney, that leaves a hole at 1B, & there is a Free Agent on the Market that Seattle was linked to last season before red flags were raised about his hips, which is no longer an issue since Seattle won’t ask him to catch for them, 1B/DH Mike Napoli. He would bring great clubhouse Leadership, a championship mentality, he has Won TWO Rings after all, One with the Angels & last year with the Red Sox! These moves are NOT totally out of the Question, & what a Top of the Rotation Seattle “could” have if they are able to pry David Price away from Tampa Bay, & what a possible lineup Seattle “could” have if GM Jack Z. isn’t afraid to make some moves that could make a difference in the Baseball “Culture” in Seattle. Mariners Fans long for a Winner, if You build it Jack, they WILL come to the ball park to watch their Seattle Mariners. Seattle has one of the most loyal Fan Bases in all of Sports, Football, Soccer, Baseball, heck, even Basketball, & there is NO TEAM in Seattle as we all know. People WANT to go to the park Jack, but you have to put an entertaining & quality Team on the field.

What the hell just happened? Cano signs with the Mariners. No. No way. I refuse to believe it, but it’s real. Well… I am sure there is a witty line to be said about all of this, but right now I am having stroke.

Wonder what Olbermann has to say now?
