David Schoenfield over at ESPN.com has some suggestions for several three-team trades. One of them involves the Mariners.

Diamondbacks-Mariners-Royals

Arizona Diamondbacks: Trade Adam Eaton, acquire Kelvin Herrera, Tim Collins

Seattle Mariners: Trade Nick Franklin, acquire Eaton

Kansas City Royals: Trade Herrera, Collins, acquire Franklin

In this scenario, the Mariners would trade Nick Franklin – allowing Dustin Ackley to move back to second base full time – and would acquire OF Adam Eaton from the D-Backs.

Last season in 66 games, Eaton batted .252 with 40 runs scored. Over a full 162 game season, that would equate to 98 runs scored. Defensively, he was primarily used in left and center, but is a better rightfielder.

I’m not sure if I would do this trade. Nick Franklin should be able to get more than Eaton in return. But the 24-year-old Eaton could blossom into quite the pickup.
