Adam Eaton, Andre Ethier to Mariners?

We have been hearing for some time that the Seattle Mariners are going to spend money on free agents and possibly be involved in the trade market this offseason.

We have speculated and tossed around suggestions, crunched numbers and thrown out more names than a D-list extra at a Hollywood party trying to impress a date.

But we aren’t the only ones throwing names around, several baseball insiders and “experts” have their opinions as to how teams should advance this offseason. Let’s look at a few of them.

All of those proposals are ridiculous. And you talk about Chris Taylor as if he is just a throw in. TW and another mid level prospect should get Either.

    • Mr Right Brain

Tom Wilhemsen, not the other TW.

    • Dan Hughes

Remember, we were just sharing trade proposals we found from around the web. These are not our proposals. I don’t talk about Chris Taylor as a throw in. I am really high on Taylor and think it would be difficult to part with him. That being said, it wouldn’t be beyond the realm of possibility for the Mariners to want to make such a move. We’ve seen ridiculous moves from them in the past.

No Ethier only Kemp….or else just go after FAs Ellsbury, Choo, and Cano (yes all 3)!!!

  • Wade Sawkins

Paxton & franklin & others to rays. David price to dodgers. Kemp and Cory Seager to M’s.

Seattle made efforts to try and aquire Billy Butler last year, thank god the Royals want too much for Butler! He is NOT Edgar Martinez, David Ortiz, etc. etc., infact, Butler isn’t even remotely close to those two men at the plate! The ONLY thing that Butler has to his advantage is that he is Right Handed! I don’t mind the “Frame Work” of the proposed deal for Ethier for Wilhemson & Taylor, but the Dodgers would HAVE TO send more than $10.5 Million with Ethier! If they are going to trade with the Dodgers, then it has got to be for Kemp, NOT Andre Ethier! Ethier is a Platoon player that is getting paid like an everyday player. IF Seattle isn’t going to move one of Paxson or Walker, then the Trade market will be just like the Free Agent Pool, DRY, when it comes to signing in Seattle as a Hitter! Even though Seattle ranked 2nd in MLB last season in HRs, after they moved the fences in at SafeCo. Field! Trade for Kemp, along with Roughly $30-32 Million, just to make Kemp’s deal more palatable, move him to Left Field, then go out & sign Ellsbury to hit leadoff & play CF. That is the #1 & #3 hitters in Seattle’s Lineup right there! IF they leave Dustin Ackley in RF, the Mariners can trade 2B Nick Franklin to the Reds with a couple other prospects to acquire 2B & RH Power bat (for a 2B, he has TONS of Pop in that bat!) Sign Free Agent 1B/DH Mike Napoli (3yrs, $45 Million). That sure does change the look of OUR Seattle Mariners quite a bit, & leaves the Payroll somewhere around $110-115 Million (or somewhere there abouts anyhow, You can do the math if you want to!) The Mariners would still need a DH/1B to rotate with Napoli, maybe bringing Ibanez back to platoon at 1B/DH or maybe Kendrys Morales?!? Any other ideas?!? ANYBODY?!? What do you think the M’s should do at DH? Ibanez is LH, Napoli is RH, good counter part imo anyway, though I would like someone younger for that role,z did GREAT last year for Seattle. Make these moves, & Then the order looks something like this at the top..

    1) CF Jacoby Ellsbury
    2) RF Dustin Ackley
    3) LF Matt Kemp
    4) 2B Brandon Phillips
    5) 3B Kyle Seager

    6) 1B Mike Napoli

    7) DH Kendrys Morales/Raul Ibanez??!!?!?!?!?

    8) C Mike Zunino
    9) SS Brad Miller
Mike Zunino in the 8 spot can be switched with Miller in the 9 hole if ya want to go that way. What do y’all think about those “NEW LOOK” Seattle Mariners?!?
