Seattle Mariners Offseason Wishlist: EVERYONE

The 2013 version of the Seattle Mariners was a major disappointment for diehard Mariner fans, casual M’s fans, general baseball fans and non-fans alike.

So it should come as no surprise that the team has every possible free agent on their wishlist. Not to mention, every possible player that may be available for a trade.

During this past week, the Seattle Mariners have been linked to having had interest in the following players:

  1. Matt Garza
  2. Masahiro Tanaka
  3. Nelson Cruz
  4. Dexter Fowler
  5. Matt Kemp
  6. Brian Wilson
  7. Mike Napoli
  8. Kendrys Morales
  9. Jhonny Peralta
  10. Shin-Soo Choo
  11. Carlos Beltran
  12. Billy Butler
  13. Marlon Byrd

And I’m sure I left someone off the list. In fact, is seems that the one person they have absolutely no interest in is the one player most Mariners fans have expressed a desire to sign– Jacoby Ellsbury.

So that leads us to today’s tweet by ESPN’s Buster Olney:

(Everyone says) “DUH!”

Isn’t that a lofty goal?

Of course, we would all love to see this happen. For example; Matt Garza, Brian Wilson, Matt Kemp and Kendrys Morales. Would you be happy with that?

I’ll personally be happy if they can bring in one of them….even if it’s only Morales.

Topics: Matt Garza, Seattle Mariners

Kemp is a huge risk He still has another six years and $128 million left on his contract. He had micro-fracture surgery on the talus bone, a weight bearing bone, in his left ankle. He probably won’t be ready for spring training but possibly by the start of the season. It is possible he might never be able to resume his career. He will never be the player that earned his huge contract again.

That’s what everyone said abouy Griffey when he hurt himself in 1995. If YOU had these injuries, yeh YOU would be done, but YOU are not an elite professional athlete. YOU have no idea what Matt Kemp is goinh to be able to do. He’s flippin Matt Kemp…. turn him into a 1st baseman… he is in his prime bro, and noone in the league has more given talent. Matt Kemp is a VERY proud person, he has somthing to prove, and my money would be on him proving it.

I think we should Trade for Kemp.

LA native Taijuan Walker, Brandon Maurer, and Stephen Romero to LA
Matt Kemp, Joc Peterson and Corey Seager come back to the Mariners, with the M’s taking on all of Kemps salary….. or somthing to that effect.

Sorry for the YOU’s, not trying to be a jerk just trying to put it into perspective.

I think we still want Ellsbury. Just posturing.

Morales is a guy we definitely don’t want. There are many players as good as him on the market and we wouldn’t lose a draft pick.

We (The M’s ) would NOT lose a draft pick if we re-signed Morales.

      • Kasey Shibayama

What I meant was that we wouldn’t get one like if we signed someone else.

Kemp wouldn’t be such a risk IF L.A. sends about $30 Million to Seattle with Kemp. Then it makes his contract more palatable. Plus, it leaves enough Money to sign Ellsbury (I agree with JJ Allen Keller, the M’s seem to be posturing) to put at the top of the order. Ellsbury @ 1 with Kemp @ 3 in the lineup looks good on paper, if the young guys can contribute. I’m NOT sold on Justin Smoak what so ever, there is a Kid that should be Traded in a package that can give a club MLB experience & a stick he swings. Sometimes, he even hits the ball! I still think that Seattle could wrestle Giancarlo Stanton away from Miami with the right pieces. Either way, Seattle has got to make some noise this Winter or they may lose all the fans they have. A Team has got to Win at some point & it has been since 2001 since the Mariners were even in the Playoffs. MAKE A SPLASH GM JACK!

Since you figure Smoak has no value to the M’s do you really think he has value for any other team. Since Smoak is serviceable at first for the time being do you seriously believe the M’s should use up $ or prospects for a 1B when there is so much more need elsewhere.
