Seattle Mariners Hire Trent Jewett as Bench Coach

The not-yet week old manager of the Mariners Lloyd McClendon has hired the first of many to his Mariners coaching staff. Trent Jewett, the former Washington National, will be McClendon’s bench coach.

These last three seasons Jewett has worked for the Nationals, this least season as the third base coach and the two seasons prior to that as the first base coach.

Jewett, 49, had been a Pirate for life prior to working for the Nats.

Back in 2001, 2002 he was the third base coach for the Pittsburg Pirates when– gasp! — Lloyd McClendon was the manager of the Pirates.

Welcome to Seattle Trent. From one Washington to another, come join this Mariners organization and help us right this ship.
