Smith And Romero Set For Fall Stars Game


Pitcher Carson Smith and Outfielder Stefen Romero will represent the Seattle Mariners organization at the 8th annual Fall Stars Game.

The game, which was formerly known as the Rising Stars Game, will take place Saturday, November 2 at 5 pm PT at Surprise Stadium in Surprise, Arizona. The game will be broadcast on MLB Network and will be streamed live on MLB.com.

Every organization is offered the chance to be represented by at least one player. This year, the Mariners send Smith and Romero.

In Double-A Jackson this year, Smith was 1-3 with a 1.80 ERA in 44 appearances, including 15 saves. For Peoria this fall, Smith has a 12.60 ERA in five innings (7 H, 7 ER) but does have one save.

Romero started 2013 in Single-A High Desert before being called up to Triple-A Tacoma for the majority of the season. He batted .277 with 11 homers, 24 doubles and 76 RBI between the two clubs.

The West Division roster is consists of players from the Peoria Javelinas (Mariners, Astros, Padres, Phillies, Royals), Glendale Desert Dogs (Dodgers, Marlins, Reds, Twins, White Sox) and Surprise Saguaros (Brewers, Indians, Orioles, Rangers, Red Sox).

TheEast Division roster fields players from the Mesa Solar Sox (Angels, Athletics, Cubs, Nationals, Tigers), Salt River Rafters (Blue Jays, Cardinals, D-backs, Rays, Rockies) and Scottsdale Scorpions (Braves, Giants, Mets, Pirates, Yankees).
