Romero And Taylor Both Homer, Lift Peoria

Chris Taylor led off Wednesday’s game with a homerun but it was fellow Mariners prospect Stefen Romero who stole the show. Romero hit a 3-run homer in the 3rd inning and added another RBI in the 7th to give the Peoria Javelinas a 7-5 victory over Glendale in the Arizona Fall League on Wednesday.

Taylor, listed as the M’s No. 5 prospect, has been the Javelinas best hitter this Fall. He went 1-for-4 Wednesday with two runs scored and an RBI. He is batting .378 for the season.

Romero, the No. 7 prospect for the Mariners, has been less than spectacular (.187 average) but had a great day Wednesday. The homer and the RBI double gave him four RBI in a 2-for-5 day.

The Javelinas are 8-11 for the season, 4.5 games back of Surprise in the AFL West.

It’s too bad D J Peterson broke his jaw and missed out on the AFL. It looks like the Javelinas could use him.
