Time for your daily update of which former player with little-to-no MLB managerial experience is interviewing for the Mariners job. It’s funny, I was actually just flipping through some old baseball cards the other day and I found among others, a Tim Wallach 1988 Topps card.

I thought to myself, “He is interviewing for the Tigers job, maybe he’ll interview for Seattle too.”

Turns out, he will.

According to Greg Johns of MLB.com, Wallach confirmed that he will meet with GM Jack Zduriencik at some point this week as the Mariners GM continues to conduct preliminary interviews to replace Eric Wedge as manager.

Wallach was the 2009 Pacific Coast League  Manager of the Year while with Triple-A Albuquerque, the Dodgers top farm club. Another former Pacific Coast League Manager of the Year (Chip Hale, 2006) has already interviewed.

So add Wallach’s name to Hale’s, Giants bench coach Ron Wotus, Padres bench coach Rick Renteria and former Pirates manager Lloyd McClendon as those we know for sure have been interviewed.

Zduriencik will likely wrap up the interviews later this week with finalists coming to Seattle for another interview as early as next week.
