Seattle Mariners ace Felix Hernandez threw another bullpen session in Detroit on Thursday, felt no discomfort and is now set to make his first start since Sept. 2 on Sunday in Anaheim against the Angels.

With the announcement that Felix will pitch Sunday, that also means that M’s fans will get one more look at him at home in the 2013 season, in the final series of the year against Oakland.

Hernandez is 12-9 with a  3.01 ERA in 29 starts this season. In his last six starts however, The King is 1-5 with 6.42 ERA.

Paxton, Ackley hold off Tigers; Bullpen blows it

Rookie James Paxton wasn’t as sharp in his third big league start as he’s been. But in five innings against the offensive juggernaut known as the Detroit Tigers, Paxton allowed only three earned runs and walked four (two intentional) and turned the game over with a 4-3 lead.

That was because Dustin Ackley, hitting in the leadoff spot, made his one hit of the day count. A 3-run homer off Doug Fister in the 5th, giving the M’s that 4-3 lead.

But in the 7th, Tom Wilhelmsen and Charlie Furbush – thorns in the side of M’s fans all season – blew it again. Wilhelmsen allowed the tying run to get on base, Furbush allowed him to score and then allowed the go-ahead and eventual winning run to score.

With nine games to go, the Mariners (67-86) are now not only in danger of not even matching 2012’s record, they stand to lose 90 games this year. But keep watching, this team can still surprise.

The Mariners now head to Los Angeles of Anaheim, North of Santa Ana, West of the 57….to play in the final road series of 2013. Here are your pitching probables for the series.

Friday- Erasmo Ramirez vs. Matt Shoemaker (Major League debut)

Saturday- Joe Saunders vs. Jerome Williams

Sunday- Felix Hernandez vs. C.J. Wilson
