Although the MLB All-Star Game has come and gone, there are still some all-star festivities left for northwest sports fans. On August sixth, the Everett Aquasox will host the All-Star game for the Northwest League; a class A short season league.
The one-day event will include a fan fest, homerun derby, and the All-Star Game itself. Tickets are still available, although limited, but can be bought for as cheap as eleven dollars apiece for access to all the events.
The Aquasox, the Mariners’ short season affiliate, will have seven players in the game. These are pitchers Aaron Brooks, Lars Huijer, and Jose Valdivia, catcher Carlton Tanabe, and infielders Bryan Brito, Jack Reinheimer, and Justin Seager.
Reinheimer and Seager are two of the many 2013 draft picks participating in the game.
Mariner first round pick, DJ Peterson, made the all-star team but will be unable to play because of his promotion to class A Clinton.
Regardless, I encourage you to get out on August sixth to enjoy a day full of baseball and fun for a very reasonable price. The forecast is sunny with temperatures in the mid 70’s; ideal baseball weather. I hope you can make it to this very cool experience.
