MLB Draft: M's Choose DJ Peterson in 1st Round

DJ Peterson

Corner Infielder from the University of New Mexico.

21 years old

Bats/ Throws R/R

6’1” 190 pounds

College Stats: .408/.520/.807, 25 doubles, 18 homeruns, 72 rbis.

Brief Thoughts:

Good selection. He’s a good pure hitter who will hit for average and for power, and he doesn’t appear to be too far from the majors. Finding a position for him may be a bit of a struggle, but you can always make room for a good bat.

There is much more to come on Peterson and the following Mariner selections here at Sodo Mojo.

Okay you got one right, not terrible. He talks about playing 3B like Montero talked about catching. If the bat plays and Smoak is still with us just stick him in the OF and say “fetch.”
