In addition to the two nights of fireworks that the Seattle Mariners will have at Safeco Field, the team management has planned plenty of special events and promotions for the 2013 season. Here’s a rundown of a few of the more interesting events with the dates so that you can plan ahead for the season.

Since the Mariners will be away at the Oakland Colosseum for the season opener against the Oakland Athletics, the mariners season opener at home will be a game against the Houston Astros. At 7:10 PM on April 8th, the game will begin, and fans should arrive at 6:30 to take part in the opening ceremonies.

The team will host several family nights over the course of the season, including family packages for both Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.  Such packages will include reduced-rate tickets that include a meal pack.

Guys Night Out will happen at the May 24th game against the Texas Rangers, and the ticket price will include a t-shirt, and first drink. Girls Night out happens on July 12 with the game against the Los Angeles Angels and includes a t-shirt and beverage.

A unique special event promotion night is Stitch ‘n Pitch Night on July 25 against the Minnesota Twins – where knitters are invited to bring their knitting needles and make a hat or scarf while watching the game (might as well multi-task?).

The first fireworks night, June 28th against the Chicago Cubs, precedes Turn Back the Clock Day on the 29th where the Mariners will  honor 100 years of history by wearing Northwest League Uniforms while the Cubs wear uniforms from the early 1900s. Attendees will receive a poster.

The second fireworks night, August 9th against the Milwaukee Brewers, is set up to honor Mariners Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. The following night will have Griffey Jr. inducted into the Hall of Fame in a pre-game ceremony.

September has two special events to take note of – September 7th’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays will honor Latin American Beisbol, and the team will wear special Marineros uniforms for the occasion. September 24ths game against the Kansas City Royals will be an Oktoberfest celebration complete with a pre-game party featuring commemorative steins and special Oktoberfest beers for the occasion.

Which of the special events are you planning to attend this season? I know that I would totally be there for Oktoberfest if it were possible!
