John Jaso To Lead Off

Why? I’m not sure.

Jaso has never really profiled as a lead off hitter, though Wedge has displayed he will go with the hot hand when the occasion calls for it. With Ackley slumping, I could think of worse choices to stick at the top of the lineup. Ryan however, is still inexplicably hitting second.

In other news Seager will play 2B tonight with Liddi manning the hot corner. Ackley has the night off.

Against righties, Jaso’s career slash is .259/.344/.392…and that’s in 626 PAs. That profiles well enough for a leadoff guy on THIS team, despite the snail’s pace at which he rounds the bases.
That said, Smyly was a lefty (and still is as far as I know). In an admittedly small sample of 105 PA, Jaso has gone .186/.317/.267. Oops.
