It is refreshing to see a different lineup tonight.

Last night Brendan Ryan took up a couple of wooden planks and made himself comfortable. Wedge stated that it was an “accountability” issue. This mode of thinking isn’t necessarily my favorite, and I have come to a conclusion that I am almost never going to agree with the manager. With that said it was hard not to be somewhat aggravated with Ryan after his rather large error and poor first pitch swinging tendencies against Darvish.

Tonight, another’s hind side will become familiar with the very same wooden planks that kept Ryan company last night. Miguel Olivo will be held accountable tonight.

It would be unfair to place the weight of last nights loss square on Olivo’s shoulders; the offense didn’t exactly contribute either. Dave over at USSM displayed some worry that Wedge’s infatuation with Miguel would keep him from maintaining a standard. Whether or not Wedge will admit to benching our cumbersome catcher due to poor play has yet to be seen.

With Olivo catching some pine tonight (the only thing he can catch…), Montero gets the start behind the plate. Not the choice I would have made, but it will be a good opportunity to see what he can do back there. Jaso will start at DH and hope that he can look the part. I obviously would have flipped them, but Wedge has proved he knows what he is doing…

Big opportunities for Montero and Jaso tonight. It won’t take that much to win the hearts of Mariners fans at this point. Olivo is becoming a quick sore spot on this team and we are just barely into the season, things could get heated in Mariner fandom here quick.

Here is tonight lineup.

Ackley, 2B
Ichiro, RF
Smoak, 1B
Seager, 3B
Montero, C
