The news broke earlier today.
The details are hazy, but what we do know is that it’s a pectoral issue. If the team has lost Franklin for any significant amount of time, this is a huge loss. Even if you disregard the offensive rebound this team direly needs from him, the Mariners don’t have a true center fielder after Gutierrez. There are a few patch job candidates such as Casper Wells, Michael Saunders, and Trayvon Robinson, but not a single permanent option.
The MRI results will be in some time tomorrow at which point we will have a much clearer outlook on options, if need be. Guti returned to camp afterwards which you have to take as a good sign. Overall, bad, bad news. I’m sure I speak for Mariner fans everywhere when I say I hope this turns out to be nothing.
