Mariners Winter Meetings Poll: Ian Stewart or Carlos Guillen

I’m not saying that the Mariners HAVE to choose between Ian Stewart or Carlos Guillen or that they even will chose either one of them. But those are the two prominent third basemen candidates that the Mariners have so far been in contact with. Both are interesting and I am curious as to how the fan base feels about either of them.

The options are as followed and are based upon a little Geoff Baker theory that I thought was interesting enough to create a poll. I was doing a poll on twitter but I got smart and just stuck it here instead. If you already voted on twitter don’t worry I already placed your votes but if you haven’t yet taken the time vote now!

Which would you rather?

I wonder how good Stewart would be outside of Coors Field and Forrest Snow has impressed me in the AFL. Guillen, if he could be had for just $2.5 would be worth it. I question how much better than Seagar he would be.

Neither. From what I’ve heard of Steward, he’s unlikely to translate well given his skillset, to the majors while Guillen… well, he’s no longer but a shell of himself. Plenty of other utility players that could be had for cheaper, who are younger. Who’s to say Guillen can even hit anymore… he’s been declining. Two of the last 3 seasons he’s hit .242 or below, and while he showed some pop 3 years ago, it’s been going away pretty quickly…
