Boxscore: Game 96

Forget about the context of the game. Where two teams both under .500 pretty much play meaningless game in July. If you just watched the game because of the fact it was a baseball game and forgot about what’s going on with Figgins, the issues with scoring runs and watched the game develop and play through. It was a decently fun game.

We got to see Ackley make a nice scoop  while first base, Greg Halman hits a 3-run homer, Carp had a couple of doubles and Brendan Ryan continues his craziness. Not to mention some good pitching performances too. It was a decently fun game to watch in a vacum.

But, put the game into context and right now as a fan we are all scrapping to get by. This season had been interesting and for more enjoyable than I had thought. But, at this point it’s tough for me to tune in day in and day out.

Here’s for hoping things can somehow turn around.

Hey, at least a few guys had a not bad night. If Halman and Carp start hitting it might wake some of the others up – or not. At least Pauley did reasonably well, I like him.

I really do not understand what the Mariner’s coaching staff means when they say that they need to ease off of Pineda work load for the remainder of the year.

I would think that the definition of easing off would be to PULL Pineda when he has pitched 6 innings in 90+ pitches on a hot & humid night, especially after Pineda labored through the 5th & 6th innings… yet they watched Pineda give up a double and a walk before even going out to talk to him in the 7th and then still let him pitch.

@Tacoma I’m right there with you. I thought EXACTLY the same thing and I really didn’t understand it. I thought about addressing the issue in the post but then I figured it’d been touched by someone else smarter.
