Boxscore: Game 88

During the first two innings I thought “This game is going to be one of those games where someone is going to score late and it will end up a 1-0 game”. Then the Mariners scored in the top of the third and I thought “This might be one of those games that we end up winning 2 or even 3-0 after getting to a pitcher early”.

Then the Angels scored… and I knew we lost it.

Poor Doug Fister. The guy has really been quiet good this year. He’s 12th among qualified pitchers in BB per 9 innings and has a K to BB ratio over 3 with ERA at 3.09 and a FIP at 3.13. The guy has been legit this year and in return he has a 3-10 record to show for it.

We’ve all shown a lot of love towards Jason Vargas this year, and it’s well deserved, but Doug Fister has really grown into one heck of a pitcher and if he had an equally legit offensive help we might give him some run support.
